I first met Laura Shepherd five years ago in her studio at Cockpits Arts London. She spent the next 20 minutes narrating how she has been a pioneering purveyor of fashionable gloves since 2001. Her passion was clear for all to see as she tapped her leather encased manicured nails on the table.

For Laura,”making gloves modern meant making them functional, flattering, fashionable and mainly fingerless. The label has never been about winter warmers or traditional gloves as these are already covered by the mainstream. The prime objective always is to create modern gloves that didn’t exist before.”

In Less than a year after  the brand was launched, Glovedup Gloves was specially commissioned and featured in a UK Vogue editorial styled by Lucinda Chambers and shot by Mario Testino at the Monte Carlo Grand Prix, and they have been ever popular with international stylists and fashion editors  ever since.  Anna Piaggis, Lady Gaga, Kylie Minogue , Madonna and Rihanna are massive fans.

Infact, Glovedup Gloves have been photographed by all the world’s greatest living fashion photographers which includes David Simms, Ellen Von Unwerth, Javier Vallhonrat, Mario Testino, Michelangelo Di Battista, Miles Aldridge, Paolo Roversi, Peter Lindbergh, Solve Sundsbo, Steven Klein, Steven Meisel, and Tim Walker.

So you can imagine my surprise when six months she decided to have a closing down sale! There is so much sun tanning and dancing that one can do.

I am stupendously excited!!!!!! Laura is back!!. She says: “I’m working on a design and illustration portfolio. I’m looking for clients for whom I can design 22nd century gloves and accessories.”

I cant wait for the adobe unravelling. Watch this space!!

Ciao Bellas xxx
